An Introduction On Sunday, December 5, 2004 at Rutgers University Stadium, the Eagles defeated Wall Township 14-0 and won the Central Jersey Group III State Championship for the second consecutive year. The only other Middletown football team to win consecutive state titles was Leonardo High School in 1925 and 1926, when they won the Central Jersey, Class ?B? State Title. The football tradition in Middletown Township began when Leonardo High School played its first game in 1919 and continued when Leonardo High School became Middletown High School. In 1976 two high schools emerged from Middletown High School, Middletown High School South and Middletown High School North. It was the intention of the Board of Education that both high schools should be equal in every way, and both high schools, being called Middletown, would share the great traditions created by Leonardo and Middletown High Schools. In the near future we would like to start to enter some of the Football Records kept by Middletown South. Our idea is to publish a book and make it available for the community. This section of the site will act as a showcase for certain records, we will be adding in the not too distant future. We would like to congratulate all of the fine athletes of Middletown Township, past and present, for bringing pride and honor to our community.
